With this being a linear walk you either need 2 cars or use the bus service. The bus from Pooley Bridge down to Patterdale is the 108 which runs every 2 hours. The ridge is a wide grassy ridge that follows the line of the old Roman road called High Street which ran between Ambleside and Penrith then on towards Hadrians Wall.

Definitely one for amazing views. You can also rest by the lake for a while or swim. Bit rocky but fun.
