A circular walk exploring the area around the village of Near Sawrey in the Lake District, Cumbria. The walking route begins in Far Sawrey and follows a pretty stretch of lakeside path along the edge of Windermere, with views of the lake's waterfowl and boat-life. Turning inland, the route follows woodland tracks and quiet lanes to reach the nearby village of Near Sawrey, where you have chance to visit Hill Top Farm, the former home of Beatrix Potter. The final stretch leads you alongside Wilfin Beck and via St Peter's Church. This walk is a low-level Lakeland walk with only a few steady climbs and no steep sections. It follows a mixture of roads and lanes, lakeside paths, field paths and woodland tracks. Some sections can become very muddy in winter and after periods of rain. There are several stretches of road walking where you will need to take care of traffic. You will need to negotiate several gates, kissing gates and stiles (including fence stiles and a stone squeeze stile). You may come across livestock in some of the fields. Allow 3 hours.
