Lanthwaite Wood and Crummock Water Circular is a 8.9 mile loop trail located near Buttermere, Cumbria, England that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options.
Upon arrival to the area you will find a few parking spots to choose from along the B5289 which easily link into the start of the walk, which takes you along a woodland trail leading to open views. Do wear appropriate footwear and consider you are close to open water and will find a mix of road walking, stream jumping and stepping stones. This trail offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, the lone tree of Butermere, and plenty of places for a private wild swim. Prepare for pretty slippery and boggy conditions if it has rained recently, but still well worth doing. A few gates to pass through but very easy to navigate.
Good circular walk with nice views and more or less no climbing. Don't be an idiot like me and try and do it in trainers, unless you like wet feet. Cut a couple of corners as we were a bit short on time, this is easily done. Good for a bad weather day.
