Noticed the reviews on this one are pretty divided. Here’s my take, We did this one as they are wainwright’s but they don’t give the euphoric feeling at the top that other wainwright’s do. the views are subpar, and the pathway up to lank rigg is basically non existent (see map) unless you go up to whoap and back on yourself. Personally I didn’t enjoy this walk whilst there was some calf splitting inclines (lank rigg - we just went straight up it following one of the prominent waterways.), it’s very unexciting. If you live locally yes its an alright loop, but it hasn’t got that “lakes” vibe at all. Boggy in places too, I bet in the winter/rainy seasons some parts are unpassable. Wouldn’t recommend.
Trail was good until you reach Lank, was no path down and had to cross river that had a high water level due to previous weeks heavy rain. Would suggest doing lank on its own for walking beginners! Great views of Ennerdale at the top of Crag!
