I and my sister did this route the other year and it was amazing. Extremely tiring by the end but we did add in Kirk Fell too. The walk itself is pretty good going and the paths are all OK. Great Gable was the most challenging one as well as coming back down off Windy Gap. We couldn't keep a grip on our walking boots at all, and it wasn't even windy haha! But the scree was fine really, just a bit slippery so be careful. Fantastic walk though and would rate it as one of our favourites in the Lake District. Challenging enough but the views are outstanding on the Wainwrights too, especially that of Great Gable. Would highly recommend. And thank you for sharing too. If you'd like to check out our walk with Kirk Fell added into it then please feel free too. Happy walking! :D https://truefreedomseekers.com/great-gable-honister-pass-walk/
This trail gets you up close and personal with Great Gable, passing right in front of the cliff edge before scrambling up and over the summit. The views from Green Gable make this trail and provide a perfect picnic spot. Be prepared for some boggy sections all along and take some spare change for the NT Honistor car park.
