Spectacular views. Not suitable for young kids. Take warm clothing, it gets very cold and windy on the top of the peaks. Take plenty of water. Some scrambling up Grisedale Pike and on the descent from Eel Crag. Lots of photography opportunities.
very excellent!! quite a scramble on the way up and some on the way down but all in all very fun
Hard going in deep snow, long tough route with steep accents, all walkable though, absolutely stunning
Absolutely brilliant route with a great mix of terrain, a few fun scrambles and some stunning views. Don't worry about other reviewers mentioning fear of heights unless you're truly terrified by ordinary hill walks. I'm not great with sharp drops etc but there is nothing extreme here and it's perfectly possible to keep well away from any edges, none of which are shear drops anyway. This is a long one so take plenty of food and layers.
Excellent route taking in accents and descents along the route with amazing views. Quite hard at times with steep climbs but worth it for the views at the top.
Definitely not for the faint hearted. If you are not a confident hiker or are afraid of steep edges then this may not be the walk for you. However, if I can do this then anyone can. This was definitely one of the most mentally challenging hikes I've ever done as I'm petrified of having to go near the edges, I definitely would not have got through it without my more confident partner. The walk up to Grisedale Pike is extremely steep and can be quite scary at one point so be prepared. Visibility and wind was definitely not our friend but in the brief moments it was clear the views were amazing. At one point I had to bum shuffle my way down as the winds were so strong but once we got past the edges and the scrambling the walk was really enjoyable. There was a great sense of achievement and satisfaction when we finished and was worth the anxious meltdowns.
A thoroughly enjoyable route with excellent views the whole way round. Be prepared for a very steep start the majority of the way up to Grisedale Pike.
Excellent route however not for the faint hearted, from the car park it is an instant climb, followed by a long gradient incline to the first summit. A little scrambling at each summit. Excellent views, fantastic day hiking. Paths can be followed with ease however good planning is a must.
