Incredible views and a tranquil day out in nature is what you can expect from this trail. You can find a cool cave which you can see from the cross paths as you come down from the other side of Catbells but make sure to take your wellies if you want to go in it. There’s a little scrambling but nothing to difficult and the views are worth every step! This is a great route for family's, friends and dogs with plenty of places to stop and take it all in.

HikingGreat!

Incredible views and a great day! It was New Years day when I went so the snow and frost made it very slippery but it was still amazing. Not too much of a climb compared to Kinder or Scafell and I added High Spy and Maiden Moor onto the Trail and then just back tracked and rejoined the loop. Also found a cool cave which you can see from the cross paths as you come down off the other side of Catbells, if you look to the left while on the cross paths you will spot it. I wanted to explore more of the cave but needed wellies which I didnt have as the water got about shin height. Can always go back! There was a tiny scramble to get up Cat bells but nothing too strenuous. On the way back on the route there are lots of steps going down towards the woods and then a monument with a pretty stream close to it! Dog friendly apart from the scrambling bit but no biggy having to lift my little Jack Russell up over a few rocks and Im sure bigger dogs would get up there themselves no probs! Absolutely beautiful hike. Will defo do it again!

Great trail.. some slippy bits when wet. Took our two boys and a drunken mate, the boys managed well the mate didn’t

Lovely walk or Hike rather, the reviews don't reflect on the challange going upwards. however worth it. Quite busy and parking is a nightmare, even though we were there early it was jam packed and ended up parking a further 1.5k away from the start of the walk. The views and the sense of achievement at the summit are worth the parking gripes

Loved this walk/hike although I never set out to do this as only intended on the much shorter cat bells however decided to march on and glad I did. Once reaching high spy in 35mph gusts and consent rain I set off down towards Dale head and along the river Derwent . Some tricky terrain especially working my way down the old Slate quarry as it was very wet and slippery but once you get past that it’s a good walk . Took me a total of 7 hours to cover 13 mls obvs some rest breaks and warm coffee along the way but well worth it , same about the poor visibility but not many ramblers/hikers because of that.

Great walk. We came off track slightly towards the end so just take a moment on the return leg to stay on the track. It looks like it joins the main road but actually continues. No trouble if you do end up on the road, you can pick up the trail further along. We found parking near the start point but it’s limited.
