While the bay that hosts Penzance and Marazion is very beautiful, there is a lot of industry, traffic and trains, so the walk from Penzance is not that pleasant. It’s been spoilt. Best stick to the beach. At low tide you can walk across the causeway from Marazion to St Micheal’s Mount. A good time to go is as the tide is going out. Walk in bare feet along huge cold granite slabs. As the receding water swishes around your feet it’s a lovely experience, cool and refreshing, with the water glistening on the granite. Check out the Mount (££) and walk back while the tide is still out or take a little boat. Marazion is a little Cornish village that’s not trying to pretend to be anything that it’s not. Penzance is a great location to base a Cornish holiday. Very central. Trains to London. Good youth hostel at Castle Horneck.
