Windsor Great Park Circular Walk is a 5.2 mile loop trail located near Ascot, Berkshire, England that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Horses are also able to use this trail.
The walk follows a mixture of tarmac paths, grass avenues and sand tracks some of which will be muddy after a wet weather. There are several gradual ascents and descents throughout the walk, but these are well worthwhile with the views the hilltops provide. There are no stiles and just a couple of deer gates (tall kissing gates). Dogs are welcome in the Great Park, although they need to be on leads in some areas and under close control at all times. Likely supposed to share the paths with many cyclists and horse riders and you will also pass through part of the deer park. The trail can take approximate time 2.5 hours but it's totally worth the trip! Time to disconnect and enjoy nature.
The walk starts from the Cranbourne Gate car park which is accessed from the A332 between Windsor and Ascot. The parking is free, although opening is limited to weekends and bank holidays and spaces are a little limited, so the car park can get full at peak times. In this case you can adjust the walk by starting and finishing at the Ranger's Gate car park, further along the A332 towards Windsor. (This is where the route crosses the A322 between waypoints 5 and 6). Approximate post code SL4 2HT. Users report there is also free parking at coordinates "51° 25' 28.4880'' N and 0° 37' 3.6516'' W
We did this trail with our 6y old son.It is a nice trail with beautiful views. We have done this trip twice because we liked it.Good lunch spot by King George 3rd statue and wow what a view down the long walk to Windsor castle. We spotted deer in the woods near the Statue.I agree that parking is way to expensive
A lot of road with cars on two sections were closed saying due to poor ground and had to go alternative way. Nice views. Won’t go back. Parking £7.5 for 3 hours robbery
Absolutely fabulous walk. Good combination of terrain. Managed to get out with little mud in boots. I don't think the map was updated as car park remains extremely expensive. 12£ for 3 hours.
It’s a great trail to follow when all the gates are open, it’s confusing when they are not
avoid this trail on Sundays unless you leave early in the morning ;-) a lovely walk through beautifully kept grounds. called Great Park for a reason.
Directions take you to very expensive car park. There is a free one a bit further along that adds 2km or so. Also a couple of paths of this route are currently closed due to conditions, but still plenty to see.
instead of paying to park at Cranbourne Gate park in one of the free car parks (5 mins walk), walk to Rangers gate and pick this route up from there. lovely views and relatively peaceful.
A varied, quiet walk with plenty of stunning views. 3/5 instead of 5/5 stars because of the extortionate car park charge (£7.50 for just over 2 hrs!)
This is a question of taste really. The park is great, manicured, old. If you like huge open spaces (fields) with minimum of trees, no shade, you will enjoy this walk more than I did. Granted, it was a windy day, but weather still cooperated: not much sun and pleasant 20 degrees. However, there is not much to look at except a couple of statues; the deer are far behind an electric fence. One of the gates in the first part of the walk was locked, and we had to climb over to carry on. Not my favourite trail, sorry.

According to windsor.gov.uk there is free parking on the A332, with chargeable parking at gates around the Great Park. If anyone can send the GPS coordinates for free parking I'll redraw the trail.
