Getting There

This is a circular walk, starting and ending at Frost Folly Country Car Park, Wellers Lane, Warfield. This is a fairly gentle walk through fields and country paths with some really pretty views of the Berkshire countryside. This walk also includes walking down Ashmore Lane, reputed to be one of the prettiest lanes in the borough, especially when the bluebells are out. Dog walkers please note that you will need to pass through a pony field at the start of the walk, please ensure that you have dogs on leads for this section of the walk. There are several gates plus one stile (but this has an open fence surround for dogs to pass through). The walk takes approximately 3 hours.

Coming from Bracknell - Leave the A3095 Maidenhead Road, at Bowyer's Lane just after the garden centre. Progress onto Wellers Lane and the car park is on the left hand side at the top of the lane. Approximate post code RG42 6EN.

Walking

I gave this 5 stars because it was pleasant enough and easy to get round. The route was flat all the way round and there was some interesting viewings but this walk did not wow me like others. It was clean and we saw horses and rabbits plus a brilliant sunset so we were happy Don’t be put off, it’s something different but still a good walk x

Dog friendly, loads of bridleways, a few A road crossings but apart from this a very safe and enjoyable walk. We had four children ranging from 7 to 9 years old with us.

Walking

Easy walk, lovely bits like the daisy field but nothing special stood out. I was hoping it would be more in the forested area and less road, we also came to a cute bridge that I wish we'd cross rather than following the path left. More for a good exercise path than fantastic scenery

Muddy

A little bit muddy in places but totally expected, so make sure you have the correct footwear on. Bluebells are starting to come through, couple of weeks they will make for a lovely photo! Some of the roads have some traffic on but more or less pretty quiet. My chihuahua can sit in the sling whilst we walk on roads etc but the spaniel needed to be on the lead for a fair little bit which if you have a spaniel.. you know if you know . I've been enjoying this walk for a few years now and with whats going on in the world at the moment, it's the perfect place to have a relaxing walk.

Nice walk but very muddy. After the mobile home encampment the Path was flooded. Wellies or good waterproof boots are needed. I’ll try the walk again later in the year

Jan 2020 - nice flat walk! A bit muddy and in one part we waded thru ankle deep water but not surprising given the time of year. Wellies were important. I’m sure during the spring it is really beautiful with the flowers. Parking was easy and we stopped for a coffee at the garden centre (2/3 way thru?) and a pint at the pub right at the end. DOG went with us - lots of off-lead with a few road crossings and one field with animals.

Jan 2020 - This was a good walk on an easy to follow route. Some of the fields at the start were muddy but not surprising at this time of year. Also, some of the route is along roads/lanes but very little traffic. There is a farm around halfway which has a coffee shop and a nice looking pub close to the end. It is a longer walk but fairly flat so worth a try especially in spring/autumn.

Only did half this trail but it was a nice walk across fields and public rights of way. New to the area so nice to see lots of green spaces. A bit muddy in places.

14/7/19. Our first use of AllTrails and we got round successfully. Great directions, easy to follow and an enjoyable walk. This is a pleasant walk with some great views. Some of the paths around the edges of fields are quite overgrown, but also a good mix of quiet roads and bridle paths. Start is close to a well maintained pub. Parking was excellent. A few busy roads to cross and one field with ponies and another with cows which we skirted around, but plenty of notice and easily navigated. Took our dog and there are plenty of stretches where she could go off the lead. She loved it! Considering we’ve lived within 5 miles of this walk there were areas we walked through we’d never visited before. Looking forward to using the app again!

I did this walk on 18/11/18. After crossing the A3095 Pendry's lane was temporarily closed to pedestrians and a had to take a diversion that meant missing the ford and Wesley Mill. Otherwise a very enjoyable and easy to navigate walk.

Did this walk over the weekend, really beautiful, worth using a bit of insect replant in the spring but don’t let this put you off, 5 star.

Great walk and lots of lovely spring wildlife. Frost Folly will be the entry point to a new country park (a SANG - suitable alternative natural greenspace), and the new ponds are already attracting swallows, and dragonflies (chasers). There is also a nice café (Robyn's nest) in the garden centre near the start / finish. Where the route crosses a main road by the Shepherd's House pub, the garden centre is 100m to the right (west).

A really lovely walk down some well made lanes. Look out for bluebells in Spring and take in the beauty of English hedgerows. The Shepherds House pub is near the end so you can stop for some food and drink - there is a garden too if you have a dog with you.
