Getting There

A 1.5 mile circular easy-access walk on the outskirts of Bracknell in Berkshire. The route explores the park surrounding Savernake Lake plus the long green corridors that lead you between residential areas and alongside Bull Brook. There's plenty of wildlife to enjoy including herons and waterfowl on the lake and lots of birds within the tree belts and hedgerows. There are several playgrounds along the way as well as grass clearings, ideal for burning the excess energy of children and dogs! The walk is almost entirely flat and follows paths with a tarmac surface for its entire length. There are no gates, steps or stiles on route and the only obstacles are two very generous staggered barriers. This means the route would be suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and disability buggies. There are a few road crossings along the way. Allow 45 minutes.

Savernake Park is located south of Bracknell town centre, in the residential area known as Forest Park. The walk begins at the free car park by the park entrance, located directly off the roundabout between Savernake Way and Mendip Road. If you are coming from the M3, exit at J3 and head north along the A322 towards Bracknell. At the edge of Bracknell, at the large crossroads with traffic lights, turn right into New Forest Ride. Go ahead at the first roundabout, left at the second roundabout and then turn right at the third roundabout, directly into the Savernake Park parking area. Approximate post code RG12 9YE (which is for a nearby residential street).

Enjoyed this walk (again) today. Autumn trees looked great in the sunshine. Our dog loves it although she is mainly on the lead for the walk.
