Getting There

This flat circular walk follows bridleways and country lanes into the countryside to the northeast of Binfield in Berkshire, criss-crossing the River Cut. The first half of the route can get muddy in winter, but it is usually passable. Although half of the walk is along lanes, most of these are normally quiet. There is one section (along Bottle Lane) that can be busy at certain times of day, so this walk is not ideal for small children or dogs. There are no stiles or other difficult obstacles and you will not be sharing any of the paths with livestock. This is one of a series of walks originally described by local historian and walker Robin Mosses, and published in "Walks and Rides around Binfield". Robin died in 2014, and this route passes, but does not take, a path named in his memory.

The trail starts at the junction of Hazelwood Lane and Cabbage Hill Lane (OS grid reference 857715). There are a couple of places that you can park either at the junction of Hazelwood Lane and Cabbage Hill Lane, or just to the west of this junction on Cabbage Hill Lane. Alternatively, you could park at the Stag and Hounds pub as long as you are going to give them your custom. There is a bus-stop opposite the Stag and Hounds, which is served by the Bracknell to Binfield bus. Starting at the pub will add 1 mile (1/2 mile each way) to your walk. However, this does give you the chance to admire the grounds of Binfield Manor and check for little egrets and kingfishers on the lake. Walking

Started off nicely down a bridle way. Then onto tarmac lanes, some busy, some less so. But however quiet, I really don’t like about half my walk on tarmac.

Easy walk. Pleasant but contains roads without footpaths. Not suitable for young kids or pushchairs.
