A circular walk taking in the village of Frilsham in West Berkshire, along with some of the beautiful mixed ornamental woodland nearby. Frilsham lies within the valley of the Pang and is surrounded by woods and meadows. The area is linked with the late 7th century legend of Princess Frideswade and you will have chance to see the well which is said to have sustained her while she was hiding nearby. The walk is relatively flat and has no stiles making easy walking, perfect for walking off a delicious lunch from The Pot Kiln pub. Some of the paths through the woodland are likely to be muddy after wet weather, but the majority of the walk follows stone tracks which provide a much firmer walking surface.

We enjoyed the walk past the houses but found the general woodland forestry not well maintained and some of the fields were almost industrial with high fencing protecting abandoned Christmas tree farming. Also, a lot of noise from the M4.

A great little circular walk with the dogs. Beautiful woodland sections and countryside views in the summer sun. Wild flowers and butterflies. Also some lovely properties on the (few) roady bits.

A lovely, varied walk. I found it helpful to check where I was on the gps map; even though the instructions are fine, I still got a bit lost. The ancient well was a bit underwhelming.

If attempting this walk after wet weather prepare for lots of thick mud.
