Brimpton Circular Walk is a 4.4 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Brimpton, Berkshire, England that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and nature trips.
A circular walk from the small village of Brimpton in Berkshire. The route is mainly along field edges with some short sections on quiet lanes. The walk is very peaceful and follows various sections of the tranquil River Enborne. There are a few gentle slopes, and most of the tracks are in good condition though some parts can get very muddy in winter. Approximate time 1.5 to 2 hours.
Brimpton is located north-west of Tadley (Hampshire), and can be accessed from the A4 road between Woolhampton and Thatcham. The walk begins and ends at the village church, St Peter's. There is parking space for a few cars in the gravel parking area in Church Lane. Please avoid times when church services are in progress, or park elsewhere in the village. Approximate post code is RG7 4TJ.
parked at the village hall. muddy, but to be expected for the time of year. small amount of road walking, but very quiet no cars passed. some water accessible for dogs to take a dip. would be a lovely walk in warmer months
Excellent walk, a little muddy in places, quiet lanes and rolling hills for views
This was a really lovely and varied walk. I did only just read the reviews about the cows and I agree that I was a bit anxious walking across the field with my dog and meeting the large group in the centre. They did not seem too bothered despite the calves, and I just gave them a wide berth. I was with my parents though who have walked far and wide and were confident to deal with them with their walking sticks if necessary! There is also mention of an angry dog in the large garden you walk through, this is actually a good natured labrador, that even to us did look a little intimidating as we approached (especially with our anti-social dog) as he's a big boy, but is quite friendly, and is limited by an invisible fence so he won't come right up. I think my parents would mention the lack of benches on the way round, which didn't bother me but they are in their 70s!
Lovely summer walk with shade and sun in equal parts. Bonus was the stream that kept the dog amused and cool.
I’m not sure if 2 stars is fair however considering we were lucky to come away with our lives I think it’s the only rating I feel comfortable giving. CAUTION! There is a field you cross diagonally near the end of this walk with cows, aggressive cows. Do not go through this field at all with a dog, it’s a very large field and we didn’t see the cows until 3/4 the way through. The cows stampeded us, we had to disperse and let the dog off the lead to try and stop them. We ended up having to jump a fence at the side of the field into someone else’s property. It’s not worth the risk with a dog, find an alternative route around. The rest of the walk was nice, but with this dangerous stretch I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Really enjoyed this walk, especially the stretches along the river Enborne. Lots of wild garlic and bluebells. Only bit I didn’t enjoy was walking through a field of cattle with calves - a bit stressful! You may wish to divert round the edge of the field. The path then goes through someone’s garden where I was barked at by a rather angry dog.
