A circular walk from the village of Beech Hill in Berkshire. The walk gives good views of the countryside around Beech Hill, Stratfield Saye, Mortimer and Wokefield, as well as a very easy and pleasant walk along the Devil's Highway. There are refreshment opportunities in Beech Hill. The walk is mostly on level ground with only 2 or 3 gentle ascents. Most of the walk is on marked footpaths, with 3 short road sections connecting them. Two of the road sections are usually very quiet. The last road section, along the road towards Wokefield, does have some heavy traffic, but it is easy to keep off the road on the right-hand side. You will need to negotiate several gates (including a squeeze gate), a rail level crossing plus one stile (which dogs may need a lift over). Allow 3 hours.

I wouldn’t recommend this walk to anyone. After the last few walks we have done on here being so lovely with different scenery I was disappointed with this one. Most of the walk is either walking down a country lane with trees either side, walking across a field or walking down a main road where drivers are coming at you around 60/70mph. Not enjoyable at all. The last paragraph of the waypoint makes absolutely no sense and we ended up having to use Apple maps to show us the directions back to the pub at the start. Was really disappointed with this walk. Don’t waste your time.

A lot of this trail was on national speed limit country roads with no footpaths. Quite a few bits were overgrown so got stung a few times. The last field is completely overgrown so you have to go round and hop over a barbed wire fence to get back to the Elm pub

Nice trail, especially at this time of year with all the yellow fields & some lovely views. A few road stretches though, so a little more tarmac than I would ultimately prefer. Despite this, would still do this walk again.
