Maungatea Bluff Track is a 2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Avarua, Rarotonga, Cook Islands that features beautiful wild flowers and is only recommended for very experienced adventurers. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.

The first part of this track is like a tunnel in the undergrowth. It seems the track is only marked where it is visible anyway - when there is no visible track there seem to be no markers either. (red splashes of paint on trees). There is a broad, wooded ridge there to follow but no marks and very poor track visibility.

The track is hard to find, use gps, very over grown, first part is a lot of crawling under fallen trees and branches, I cleared a lot but still hard going, marking are hard to find at times , I think I was the only one to do this in about 5 years , in the end couldn’t find the summit
