The Taishan Gully route is pretty steep but shaded. The trek up the stairs to Greater Wutong mountain is hot and relentless. A lot of tourists ride up to the parking lot where the stairs begin but those people had an amusing amount of trouble with the stairs. There are many vendors for snacks and water. Try the liangcai mian ( cold noodles) at one of the vendors that makes them. They are sour and spicy and delicious.

This was a very nice hike. Start with the base from bus 211 drop off area then it takes you into the jungle upstream passing through several waterfalls and leading to a very hard climb. Then it ends with a paved road that goes either all the way up or all the way down. If you still have energy go by the emerald pool on the way back!

Is so lucky there has a beautiful mountain near this big city, and the mountain has so many hiking paths. Fuck amazing view of Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and the sea in the top of WuTong Mountain.

Amazing Trail. We went up the less steep route and came down the steeper route accidentally. Bad idea for the knees and ankles. We had really good weather though it rained and got foggy when we were at the top. The panoramic view was amazing and totally worth the hike. As mentioned in one of the previous reviews you tend to run into people blaring music, but not many of them today. Vendors offering water, snacks and medals are lined all the way to the top. No toilets available anywhere. Very shaded trail, so need to worry about the sun. Hard to hike if it is raining. It can get quite slippery.

I took the Tsushima Brook trail up and came down the Brave man steps, and I’m glad I did! The route is almost entirely stone steps up or down until the overlook area, which is a huge plaza. I took the road down.
