This is a very, very pretty hike to a laguna which is a few kilometers short of the glacier (they don’t let you go to the top). The 1st kilometer is fairly steep but there aren’t any technical sections. Just a smooth trail that takes you straight up. How hard it is depends on your fitness level. If you are fit this will be an easy hike. We went at the end of summer and I would not call it lush. Excepting where the small river flows it is a dry, high desert landscape with breathtakingly tall peaks in all directions. Just past the laguna you can find a water spigot where you can fill up your water bottles with cool, glacier fed water.

Great trail - the first few kilometers are difficult (incline only) but totally doable. THE trail is well maintained and the lake is in a lush, spectacular area. There is a 3-6k peso fee to enter the park. We went in dead of summer, and drank a ton of water. There were two water sources out on the trail. Lots of wildflowers and epic Mountain views.
