Sofia Lake and Hidden Cave Trail Circular Route is a 4.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Puerto Natales, Magallanes, Chile that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
This trail is on private property. The fee entry to the Lago Sofía trail is located on the road to Lago Sofía (Y-280). There is a step ladder and blue signage indicating the entrance. The trail is free and is approx 45minutes to 1 hour to the top. If there is decent wind, you’ll be rewarded with views of Condors, if it’s too windy, don’t go.
Can’t give a real review of the trail, we got about 1km in and found a small camp of tents. We were told that we were not allowed to access the trail unless we paid 10,000 CLP per person. The person requesting this wasn’t in any sort of uniform and mentioned that this was a separate park from Cueva del Milodon and that it was his park. It all seemed fishy so we left.
