Los Gatos Trail from Mirador Douglas Tompkins is a 7.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Cochrane, Aysén, Chile that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and ohv/off road driving.
The road leading to the Mirador Douglas Tompkins is rough and should only be driven in a 4WD vehicle. This route can also be done by starting at the Alto Valle Campground, which adds several miles to the trip. Please note that Patagonia Park is only open October - April annually.
You don't have to have a 4x4 to do the hike. We parked at the parking lot for 4x2 cars and walked to the trailhead in 30 minutes or so. It was a beautiful hike!
