This is a beautiful looped trail north of Meech Lake, starting off from the parking lot for O'Brien Beach.   Gatineau Park is extremely well visited during October, but once you get a couple of minutes away from the parking lot  - you, by and large, have the trail to yourself. The first portion of this loop is along Trail 36, which is part of the Trans Canada trail. If you are of the curious type, don't forget to drop by the nudest beach at the onset.  A sign stating the illegal nature of this act was not being completely obeyed.  At the furthest point west, you leave the 36 and head northeast on Trail 50.  Before this junction there is bench on which you can stop to admire the scenery.  Trail 50 ends at P16 and Cowden road.  After the road ends, the path becomes much narrower (it is no longer a numbered trail) and leads through a shrubbery  section before reaching the canopy of the forest.  The trail goes by the Wilson Carbide ruins and leads into the main trail back to the parking lot. One item worth mentioning is that the cutoff at the eastern most portion of the loop can easily be missed. Make sure that you have it clearly marked on your GPS.
