historic site

The 35-year-old Intercentre trail is a portion of the National Trail, straddling the Lanaudière and Laurentides tourist regions. The Lanaudière portion takes you to the top of the Montagne Noire to discover the 1943 crash site of an RCAF Liberator aircraft. At 892 m, this is the highest summit in Saint-Donat. The Mésangeai shelter is at 850 m.

The first viewpoint was more beautiful than we expected. It was nice and there are benches here and there so we can rest. The Liberator observation point was memorable, you don't see it everywhere . View at the observatory was BEAUTIFUL! a 360 degree view of the mountains around. Breath taking!

The shelter Les Mesanges is private, you have to rent it ahead. Didn't worth the mini detour to go there because it was booked and we disturbed a family during their dinner time.. The next 2km following Les Mesanges shelter was disappointing: nothing much to see.

The logging trail compromised part of the trail. Otherwise a beautiful hike.

Good snow at the higher elevations. The problem this year is that there is logging in the area, and the logging road has compromised the trails. You will need to ski up and down on the Lac Lezar side of the trail, while the other trail shown on this map is only snowshoe in the winter.

There is now also a tower at the top of Montagne Noir which provides incredible views of the area. In the winter you need to share the top of the Montagne with snowmobiles

Belle journée, aucun nuage, un peu trop de monde a mon goût, mais bon, on a pris un autre sentier pour descendre

Great ride, nice lake, quiet, large trail but near the end, the trail is going thinner and a little rought. Near the top, you can see the rest of a war plane crashed in 1940's and septural icone. Awsome in fall time with colors in threes.
