Getting There

This is an off-shoot trail from the SC Johnson Rail Trail. This goes down the bank to the flat area at the bow in the Grand River across from where Whiteman's Creek enters the river. Getting off the SC Johnson Rail Trail requires going down the hill and then coming back up 165 feet of elevation. Deer are often found in this area as well as many types of birds.

Park at the dead end of Kraemer's Way.

Grand River Conservation Authority

Drive to the end of the Hardy Road onto Kraemer's Way (dead end road). Park there and head west on the SC Johnson Rail Trail. When you get to a sign stating there are "Turtles Crossing" go off the main trail and head down the trail going down the hill towards the Grand River.

So, this trail is not marked and a little hard to find. It’s a side trail off the SC Johnson trail. There is a little posted that reads Perched Fen....that is the trail you need to take. We actually passed right by it and ended up walking 2 1/2 km down the SC Johnson before we had to turn back. Sad to say we never made it down the trail, but it is on the list to go back!!!

Awesome secluded trail that has trees, fields and hills. It also has a pokéstop at the partridge fen deck.

The 'main' side of the river is pretty well populated until you cross Robinson. You can also cross the bridge and take the more challenging other side back. Odds are you'll see no one on the path there.

First to Review

This is a terrific off-shoot trail providing a closer encounter to the Grand River and wildlife. The trail has other connections to get back on the main SC Johnson Rail Trail.
