This is another of the many waterfalls along the Niagara Escarpment, named for John Walter, an early settler who used the water power of Walter's Creek for his mills. The Bruce Trail follows the river most of the way. When you reach the side trail (marked in blue instead of white) you will be temporarily separated from the river. Its a relatively easy hike and is recommended for families and pets.

We enjoyed this trail. We walked the entire trail , white blazes on trees to follow. There are some rocky areas to climb, roots, wet spots, normal trail. No dogs allowed near the Inn . no swimming. Bring hiking poles they will help on the ups and downs. Some areas are flat and soft pine needles. This App was very useful for finding out if we were on the correct path. Bring water and snacks . There are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the sound of water.

Dogs are not allowed at a critical part of the trail even on leash. The beginning and end of the loop near the Inn. That was disappointing. Other than that the trail was moderate with a few harder parts.

It was great, it started off easy.... Lots of roots and rocks (hiking shoes are a good plan) and by the end you are climbing up the escarpment and it's a bit more difficult!!!! But it was a good walk and very beautiful!!!!
Oh yeah and bring bug spray!!!! And if you go into the inn they have a map of the trail that you can take with you!!!
