I wasn't sure whether to give this trail 3 or 4 stars. The interpretive panels are in great shape and the free trail brochure is nice. The walk is interesting with all the mini shale cliffs. You go mostly through young looking forest but also some small fields. We saw a garter snake, red squirrel, frogs on our walk so my daughter appreciated that.

The main negative is the massive power lines cutting right through the middle of the trail. Also, stop '7' in the brochure is a lookout...of the power lines. I don't know why they bothered with that.

There are some good parts of the trail but overall I think it rates more a 3 than a 4 for the Ottawa region.

The trail starts out with a nice view of a little waterfall. The lower trail is pretty generic. The upper half of the loop is on a hill with nice rocky scenery. The trail takes a detour to a lookout point over a moderate cliff that you can sit on and dangle your feet over. The end of the loop ends at the top of the little waterfall. It's relatively easy to climb over to to and rinse off after the hike.
