Lots of beautiful falls!

This is a great trail for families to do. I would suggest going first thing in the morning as by lunch it is packed.

I visit Lake Superior Provincial Park every year and this is the ONE trail that I always do. The waterfalls are gorgeous and unique in their shapes and never get old. The trail follows the river before turning back and going out though, if you continue a bit further up, you'll reach a backcountry campsite for overnight canoeists. It's honestly kind of a 'pick your own difficulty' deal. Staying firmly on the trail itself will provide you with a very straightforward hike with numerous nice lookouts and vistas. However, the rocky riverside provides opportunities for a bit of boulder scramble as well without disturbing forest growth. Overall, just a great trail and highly recommended.

Great trail! You will see a lot of beautiful falls on your way. It is pretty flat and we saw some couples with kids on the trail. I truly enjoyed the forest smell because of white cedars. It is very sweet and therapeutical. Lovely place.

Trail goes along the river bank for the most part. Very interesting sights. Lots of water and lots of falls. At about the 3K mark there is a camp site so would be a great starter for backcountry camping.

We did this trail in late May 2013, very nice trail, well kept. Very easy to do, perfect for the young kids to try out hiking. The Sand River at this time of year is at full force raging with a lot of running water, many picture perfect areas. They updated the restrooms, very nice and clean.
