Recollet Falls Trail is located in the French River Provincial Park in Alban. The well-worn trail to the falls is very scenic. The historic Recollet Falls is a low, wide cascade that can be over 100 m wide. The French River has eroded a spectacular wide gorge that is easily the highlight of the trip.

did the hike with our 7 week old strapped to our body and it was a little slippery. not a bad hike if the trail wasn't terribly muddy and wet

This is a short hike to the gorgeous Recollect Falls at French River. The sight is BEAUTIFUL!! Just follow the blue blazes and you can’t get lost. Parts of the trail may be muddy but not flooded. While you’re there, visit the suspension bridge and the Visitor Center (if it’s not closed). Picnic tables are available near the entrance and outside of the Visitor Center. Public washrooms at the parking lot. Next is the display of a Pow Wow ground.

Trail was damp with some Slippery rocks and tree roots from overnight rainfall. Beautiful waterfall at the end. Nice trail. Will come again.

High traffic trail. Lots of rocks and tree roots that were a little slippery and there were some muddy areas. End of the trail is more like a small rapid than waterfall, but it’s a nice spot to relax and take a dip.

The main entrance is closed due to construction. Difficult hike in the heat up rocks filled with wild blueberries right up close to the rushing falls. Would do again

Interesting landscape. There is a small waterfall at the end, but great stop to rest and cool off. Gate was closed so parked just outside of it. Visitor centre was also closed. A lot of bugs.

Don’t do this trail for the “waterfall” - it’s unimpressive. Do it for the short journey through the Canadian Shield landscape.

Went there over the wknd... Great place, nice falls and also walked the suspension bridge. The trail can be tricky at times especially when you get close to the falls. Some obstacles as trees as fallen in the trail. Overall good trail. Careful and watch for snakes (rattle snakes) and lots of mosquitos! Was also a bit muddy in some areas!

My wife and I loved this trail. A little challenging with all the roots and rocks (good hiking shoes or boots are needed for sure), but well worth it. Not too long, nice views of the French River along the way, and a great reward at the end with the falls. Definitely recommended!

Good exercise with uneven root covered rocks for a lot of the trail. packed a lunch / snack and chilled at the falls for half an hour before the return hike. A fun way to spend a morning.

Excellent hike. It is quite a work out for your legs due to uneven ground of rocks and roots. The falls at the end was worth it and a great way to rest by enjoying the view.

A must-do if you're in the area! This was a wonderful trail. Moderate is a good rating - it's not a trail for complainers or people with bad ankles. the trail terrain is split between easy stretches of shield and rambling tree root. It's a good one for most people - a bit of a challenge for newbies, straightforward for more advanced hikers and the end with a stop at the rapids is worth it for all. There was one small scramble area right before you head down to the rapids. One bit of advice: we went on the Saturday of August long weekend. we started the train at 10:30am and didn't see many people on the way in or at the rapids, but did see a lot of people on the way out. Start the trail before 10am if you want the space to yourself!

Nice trail but very rooty and rocky so I don't think small kids would enjoy it. Nice view of the river (small falls) at the end. You can also view the river along the way if you go off the path at a few spots.

Beautiful trail, you will come across people but it's worth it. When you get to the falls take a moment to realize how much of Canada's history has taken place there.
