Hiked this trail with our dog last Tuesday and it was only ourselves and one other couple. We went to the sign, then looped around by the windmill & up the grass path under the hydro lines then back on a trail in the bush & out again the way we came in. We didn’t try to find the bush trail as everything was a little wet from the previous day’s rain & weren’t feeling up to the adventure. Beautiful lookouts though, no bugs now and the climb going in made for an excellent workout.

HikingGreat!

The one side of this trail is on a bush road but the other is a great hike in the woods with a fun descent using a rope to assist down a steep rock face. The trail in the woods is found by waking past the big sign on the lookout. Enjoy.

the marked out trail was great but if you’re planing on following the map from this app here’s some pointers: once you get to the top of the M’chigeeng look out you will have to go past the huge sign in order to find the other part of the trail. Once on this trail you’ll notice it’s very unmarked and trees are down everywhere. You’ll come across a few parts where the trail disappears but don’t panic, you’ll find it again. Just go straight. The pictures make this place look beautiful but if you’re scared of Heights then I’d recommend staying on the normal trail. this trail was hard to understand, very difficult, but so worth it! Ps. You’ll actually have to basically rock climb at one part. (Once you find the rope and hill, you actually have to go down in order to find the other part of the trail.)

Steep for the first 15 minutes but then flattens out. A great view at the top!

Overall, we enjoyed the ‘adventure’ at M’Chigeeng trail. We took the open and wide main path to the sign and decided to take the other path which we would not have found without this app. We went over and under countless fallen trees and got lost a couple of times, looking at cliff edges... In the end, we managed to make it out safely, having enjoyed ourselves, however, we would not have taken the alternative route if we had known how rough it was.

First to Review

Hiked up using the newer trail signs, nice but not great, some pretty forest along way, but feels very new growth, and like walking on gravel road. Pass a couple of intersections along way to top, but newer signage pointed straight so followed that. Came to cross section at top and took right and forward wrong turns (no signage), took left last which then had sign, and lead to the looked (with big letters). I looked for signs for a return loop, but none, and followed a well walked path in front of the big letters. This led to a return loop trail - but not maintained. Had to walk through some overgrown areas and rely on worn trail with occasional old signs. Probably not meant to do..but a nicer trail through forest. Took down old stairs, and at one point used a rope in place to get down a difficult drop to a wooden platform and series of broken wood stairs...that returned you to one of the earlier intersections. All up, just over 2 hours, and mostly easy.
