The map here is not the Mad River section of the Ganaraska Trail, it is the end stretch of the 50km Barrie section. Walked it yesterday and ended up going straight through the wetlands in ankle deep water. Good, fun walk with lots of wildlife. Im going to complete the 50km Mad River section next, which runs through Angus and New Lowell, down to Glencairn.

I started at the road where the marker is indicated on this map and walked south about half way until I hit a road, then turned around and came back. It’s a nice quiet walk. Looks like it’s in a swampy area however in March it’s all still covered in ice, including the path. I walked for two hours and didn’t see anyone else. There is an old fortress up the hill along the way which is worth checking out. There are no rewards or views for hiking this path but if you want easy and quiet it’s a nice stroll.

Nicely marked trail, easy to walk. Nice viewing points. Wear bug spray, insects are plentiful.
