The view was great but the bugs were terrible. Not sure what the guy was smoking who said go left. Just follow the signs for the lookout and keep right - it’s only 20 min each way. I uploaded a pic with our shorter route highlighted in green if you want to see what I mean.

Part of the trail is either completely overgrown or the swamp water level went up passed the trail. The lookout was nice though. Lots of bugs; a horse fly came to walk with us for most of the hike.

The lookout is just beautiful. Upon entering the trail, I’d recommend starting on the left fork (going clockwise). We went counter clockwise but about 300 yards from the end the path was flooded and impassable so we had to go all the way back around which added 40 minutes just when we thought we were near the end.

Amazing view and challenging enough trail as it is steep. Great for a quick hike to a beautiful view.

Enjoyed a great hike with my wife and daughter on the Gun Mountain Trail up to Tom's Lookout. Didn't see another soul. Trail was well marked. All the trees and bushes were coated in brilliant white. It started snowing heavily when we reached the lookout so the views were less than ideal but still very much worth the effort. Glad I'm still able to share these moments.

This was a great hike but it is located on the Thomas P Murray rec trail and 4 wheelers passed us during our hike. The first part of gun loop is a road with a steeper incline. The view is amazing! I required using this map as the second half of the loop are referred to as Drohans Trail and Toms Trail. It can be a bit confusing if you don’t have this app on hand.

Very nice lookout. I would recommend bringing bug spray and a mosquito net though. Did this hike start of August.

Beautiful lookout at the top! Muddy in a couple spots, but otherwise it's dry. It's a bit rocky at times, so watch your footing. It's a steep trail at times, so it's great for training if you have more difficult hikes to do in the future

Nice lookout but too noisy because of ski-dos

A lot of incline, especially for my four year old but worth it for the breathtaking lookout

Wasn’t expecting it to be as steep as it was. But it was definitely still a great hike with an awesome view!

Did this hike in the winter. Took the shorter scenic/lookout trail. From road to top lookout and back under 50 min in ankle deep snow wearing boots. Plenty of rabbit and deer tracks to see and spots with chickadees. Lookout allows to view Gun Lake and Rockingham Creek/lake. I was able to follow snowmobile compacted trial others wise would have taken twice the time maybe.

Great hike to the top of the lookout. We took Toms trail back and the beaver pond washed out the trail. Be prepared to go off trail along the hill through heavy bush.
