We hit up this trail about 40 minutes prior to sunset hoping to make it to the coastline and take in the sunset from there. The trail is not maintained and about 1km in on the west part of the loop we lost the trail altogether with overgrowth. We would have pushed on if it were earlier in the day but with darkness approaching we elected to come back and enjoy the sunset from the harbour. The Sportsman Inn team are discouraging people going out on this trail, especially late in the day after a group ended up having to overnight there because they couldn't find their way back.

Nice hike and at about half the loop you can go swimming! Don’t forget the bug spray ;)

Poorly marked trail with a high mosquito burden given wetland areas but overall a great experience. came across many animals (deers, porcupine, wild fowl, heron) over varied terrains. Would do it again! The mainland to George island is only about 100 m but there is a ferry service with the sportsman inn that can take you across and back for $3 (call 7052879990). The trail takes about 3.5 hours. have fun!

Very diverse Terran and not too difficult. Too bad it’s not being maintained anymore. It was the first time my wife and I came across a bear on a trail. Great experience!

this was a challenge for sure! start at the sportsman lodge dock only the other access is poorly marked. trail is not maintained but many of the weathered trail markers can be spotted. this is a good 3.5 hour hike over very challenging terrain.

Closed. Make sure you call ahead this trail is privately maintained and wasn't open when we made the trip. You also need to take a boat across (only costs $3) but we were told that it was a swamp and we would be up to our wait in marsh.
