Devil's Monument Loop is a 2.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from June until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
We walked half the trail in a blizzard. The footprints are almost covered by the new snow. We did counterclockwise, so we did see the stunning snowy cliff, but for just 0.7km, it took us (2 adults, a teen and a kid, with a golden retriever) 45 minutes. We realize with this condition, we won’t be able to finish it. My hubby suggested to cross the woods when the two paths are the closest, so we did that. See our recording. It’s a very memorable hike.
Wanted to do the Devil’s Loop Trail, but there was no signal. Took this one by mistake. Still very beautiful. Very light traffic with A tranquil lake.
This was an amazing winter hike with kids, but also very challenging in the snow. Look out for the hidden rocks and crevices. Use a pole or stick. As others, would also recommend going clockwise on side trail first and main trail back.
Great hike! Would recommend doing the side trail out and main trail back.
I'll call this one "Lion's Head Lite" . Not as spectacular or challenging, but some of the same sights/lookout types. Monument is cool, beach is cool, mini waterfalls are cool, and follow my recording if you'd like to see some glacial potholes on a side trail. Again, none as awesome as Lion's Head but it's not a bad afternoon.
We travelled clockwise from Britain Lake Rd parking lot...challenging section with rock and elevation change leading to great views of the bay and eventually to stairs and the water. Looped back to parking via side trail that was much flatter. Not too crowded....great day
Family hike with 3 teenagers. and 45lb dog. Very scenic. Some challenging areas. The water down on the rocky beach was refreshing! Go early on a weekday. We were there by 9:30 and passed only a few people. There was definitely traffic on our way out of the trail.
Did the 5.1 k loop Views from the cliff top were amazing. Went down to the "beach"at the Devil's Monument and went for a swim. Everyone said water was cold but it was fine. At some places definitely more towards the difficult side of "moderate" (posted by 73 & 74 year olds)
What a great area of the Bruce Peninsula. It is not part of the National Park infrastructure but well maintained. There are other trail options in the area from that starting point and others along the way. On a Nice sunny day, bring your bathing suit and enjoy. Lots of nice picture spots, views from the edge of the mountain.
