Cyprus Lake Trail is a 3.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Great trail. Not too hard. The trail could use some fresh flashes for better sight.
Great winter hike. If you park in Lot 2 you’ll go through some flooded areas along the trail. You can get closer in the winter to the trail head than lot 2. We figured that out after the hike. We went clockwise and tried the “Horse Lake Trail” back to the car. It seems it goes along the water shore and the water was way high. So we sort of blazed our own trail until we got away from the water a bit. Very very ice on the rocks around the Grotto. Take extra care and wear well traction shoes/ boots.
Good mix of conditions, from rocky to flat winding sections
Amazing !!! First time to Bruce Peninsula and already am planning next summers trip!! A must see for everyone !!!
I really enjoyed this trail around Cyprus Lake in the Bruce Peninsula National Park! It’s a pretty easy trail with beautiful views. It had rained while we were there so it was a little muddy and near the end was a bit of bog so we had to off road it to avoid a big mess, but it was fun nonetheless!
We had a great time on the trail this past spring. It was a cool and wet weekend, so this trail had a bit more mud than the others we hiked. If walking counter clockwise, don’t follow the hydro poles when you see them - head into the forest to the left to stay on the trail. There’s a small bridge further ahead to cross the water. You might think you’ve missed it as it will look like you’ve reached the end of the lake already, but as long as you go left (closer to the lake) of the poles you will find it. Alternatively, walk this trail clockwise and it will be less confusing. The far side of the lake wasn’t well marked, but follows near the shoreline.
The camping at Cyprus Lake isn't terrible, but I have camped else where that has been better. The trail is easy enough, with most of it being boardwalk. You can continue on the trail right to the Grotto. The Grotto is spectacular and the water on the Georgian Bay is very blue. Be cautious in wet weather, and winter as the rocks can be very slippery and icy. It is also highly populated in the summer, which makes it hard to enjoy the true sights of the Grotto.
