Bond Lake Loop is a 1.7 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Easily the worst hiking experience I've had all winter. If you're thinking to yourself "well, I'm in Richmond Hill, I should check it out!" ... Don't. Plenty better trails in the area. If I could give it 0 stars I would. 2/3 of the trail is unwalkably icy, even with crampons. There are multiple places where you *will* fall, no matter which path you take. I ended up walking (dangerously) on a clearly melting and slushy pond because one place was that impassably icy and eroded. The other third is so disgustingly muddy that your feet will most certainly get stuck. It's just not worth it. Oak Ridges needs to do some work here.
The actual Bond Lake loop is a prohibited area. I went out there hoping to do the loop, but stuck to the allowed trails that headed away from the lake. It was still nice, but wish I knew the restrictions ahead of time. Also, the parking at the lot was confusing. Lots of private property notices, but it looks like a few spots are permitted for the trail.
beautiful trail! Able to descend to the trail from the north. Too icy coming in from the south and southeast last week
Great walk! also wanted to go around Bond Lake but the east and south entrance to the loop was too icy for us
Nice trail, but part of the trail was off limits. We will definitely return.
A good walk just before the Christmas winter storm. it was slippery, wet and windy- it's hard to understand how animals endure it. Get out there and get wet!
Really slick today, ground is still frozen but top layer of ice is melting. You’ll need good boots.
