This is an iconic trail. Before you get to where the boardwalk starts you get a nice easy flat hike through moose habitat. There is a nice man made wooden lookout you can go up in. The scenery at this points is woodsy. Once you get to the fork you can decide to take the long way (right) or go left and go straight for the epic views. We turned left for sake of time. Once the boardwalk portion starts get the camera ready. The views are incredible. There are quite a few stairs to go down so just remember you have to get back up but it’s so worth it. We loved it so much we bought the T-shirt. This is a great way to see the highlands and ocean majestically collide.

All I can say, if it’s the first visit at cape breton, make sure you don’t go back without this hike! Absolutely Spectacular... If you’re elementary level hiker, it can be a bit long for you.

June 2019. Well kept trail and easy terrain with combination of crushed gravel and beaten grass, last portion is wooden boardwalk and many stairs (fragile vegetation signs to stay on boardwalk), showcasing scenic views of Cabot Trail and ocean. Return trail is shaded and popular, this loop is less crowded but very exposed to the sun. This loop offers some viewing areas, but not as astonishing as the main ocean view, would suggest doing the loop on the way in.

When there is fog there is little to see. This makes it a nice walk. Nothing special. When it is clear, the view is spectacular! Unless you can see the end of the trail from the road as you approach from the Chéticamp side, it isn’t clear enough and not really worth it.

Took us a little over 2 hours. Unreal views on the skyline boardwalk. Saw moose. Not too crowded yesterday at about 12:30 PM, but plenty of people around. Bathroom at the trailhead.

A very easy trail to walk ! Gorgeous lookout! Very windy when we’ve visited - have walked it three times so far. On a sunset visit, we saw two moose - one quite close.

It is a quite easy trail. Even a family with a stroller can enjoy the hike. The scenery along the way is beautiful. At the end of the trail it is a short boardwalk reaching out to the sea and that is where it gets super busy but the wide open view is stunning.

I would recommend this trail must do in Cabot Trail. Saw a moose at trail! The board walk view and the experience with wind was mind blowing. This is one of the highlights from Nova Scotia Trip. We started around noon and it took total 2 hours. Did the loop clockwise. Minimal crowd , probably cause after the labour day long weekend.

We did it counter clockwise and started at 8:30am, minimal crowds. The most iconic viewpoints of the Cabot Trail as it gets! EXTREMELY windy on the boardwalk look off point (bring windbreaker just incase!). Also lucky enough to see a moose! Took us 2 hours total

The most touristic, iconic hike of Cape Breton is great. If you don’t mind a ton of people, this is a super easy hike to check off the list.

Skill level: Intro/Beginner Difficulty: 2.5/10 Quite Easy If you just fast walk it can be done in an hr and half. The views are glorious. We did it twice on our short stay at Cape Breton. Saw some moose :) and a quick glimpse of a black bear. Sunsets are truely breathtaking. Always a crowd. Very popular trail esp given its ease. Must do! Strong winds at the top!!

We did this one at the end of the day yesterday, August 28, and it was worth it. The trails are very busy, but never seemed too crowded. This is a credit to the designers because the parking lot was full, and it is a big lot. The views are even more spectacular than the promotional pictures. We also observed an a abundance of pilot whales at the bottom of the cliffs. It was our third trail of the day and one we hope to return to.

An amazing trail on an amazing drive through the Cape Breton Highlands national park. Yes it’s busy but the views at the end are spectacular! And we saw whales from the coastline viewpoint and 2 moose as well!

I love you more then air. An almost nothing until you reach the freedom you wish you had. I can only imagine Mecca feels this good. Peace be onto you brothers and sisters. Tourists: we hate you as much as we need you - as you keep those Cabot Trail roads smooth and crackless.

Did the full loop, counterclockwise. Amazing views. Animal sightings. Started at 8:30am and we were one of the only ones there. By the time we were leaving the parking lot was full and the trail was busy. Glad we got the early start.

The views were a definite 5, however the trail was very crowded. We hit the trail at about 9 am with maybe 20 cars in the parking lot when we arrived, and well over 100 when we left around 11:30. People did not seem to respect the signs that indicated vegetation rehabilitation. We did see 2 whales while looking out over the ocean.
