Signal Hill via North Head Trail is a 2.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The trail offers views of St. John's Harbor and the rugged Newfoundland coastline. Be prepared for lots of stairs.
Completed the north head trail then turned right on to the ladies lookout trail and then on to cuckolds cove trail (Burma Road) a lovely 5K loop. Trails in great condition. Lots of trail ribbons behind the visitors Center, just keep going towards the water and you’ll hit the main trail. Some tight areas for people passing by of course but otherwise great. I was half hiking / running for time reference.
Good trail. Will give some nice views and a good work out on the return to the top of Signal Hill.
Can I give more than 5 stars? This was an amazing hike. Very challenging with the elevation but SO worth it! I did need to use the All Trails GPS map to keep in the trail after Battery Dr so I didn't end up out on the road and just walking back up the sidewalk. I kept to the trail and came up the stairs back at the tower. Took me just an hour and it was fantastic!
Incredible views ... was told about 300 stairs, lots of ups and downs !
Great views! I’ve done this numerous times. I always start with Lady Lookout Trail-North Head-Burma Trail. Takes roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes. Definitely gets the heart pumping and is a good work out. Lots of stairs going up Lady Lookout and North Head. Dog friendly and usually heavily trafficked.
It was a beautiful day to be out hiking the trail! It was not windy, and wasn’t too hot. We did the trail with my best friends 6 year old and even she loved the trail. Kid friendly for sure.
