Trail isn't bad, once you get to the actual trailhead from the gate. Unfortunately there isn't much to see until you get to the top of the hill, and even then really. At least with this one you don't have to worry about getting your feet wet or uneven terrain, it is very well maintained.

WalkingGreat!Rocky

This is a great trail and offers something for everyone. There is trail in forested areas; marshland boardwalks and then onto a steeper rocky trail to the summit of Butter Pot Hill. Amazing views of Conception Bay South, Holyrood, Harbour Main and Bell Island. My wife and I had our Welsh Terrier along for the morning hike and stopped to enjoy Pegwood Pond. A great morning hike!We took our time to enjoy the sights and made the round trip in 2.5 hours.

Fantastic trail!!! Would defiantly do it again. Well maintained, and the terrain was quite doable. We had a lot of rain the day before so there was a few wet spots, but I was able to get around it.

I really enjoyed this hike! With the park closed, it was an additional 2.75km each way from the gate to the trail head. The path was easy to follow, well maintained, and simple a breathtaking walk through the forest. The climb to the top of Butterpot Hill was easy and the views were spectacular. I would recommend this hike to all ages + pet friendly!

Lovely trail! Was pleasantly surprised! by the scenery. Did it yesterday, 2020-04-18, and it’s covered in snow after the checkin gate to the summit, which made it quite the workout. Bring a lunch/snacks and water; hat, mitts and sunglasses. We worn hiking boots, but the snow is still deep so snowshoes if you’re so inclined.

First I’d like to state my cousin and I were worse for wear the day we did this hike after a night downtown. We didn’t know what to expect but were blown away by how beautiful the trail was. The fog was dense and that just seemed to add to the beauty. Trail is well maintained and easy to navigate. It’s a long hike so prepare with snacks (an abundance of you have kids). I’m sure the view from the top is wonderful but I enjoyed the rolling fog, plants, reflective ponds, and quiet just as much.

Great hike. Very scenic. Not difficult. I only recorded the trek out. The time could be shorter, but we meandered back to the trail head, giving our pooch some time to explore and go for a few swims.

This is a great trail with a fantastic view out over Conception Bay from the top of Butterpot hill. The view alone is worth hiking this trail.

A great way to spend the day! I took my 3 kids (ages 5, 9 and 11). Hike is not difficult, and the kids saw it as a real adventure! We followed it up with a picnic and a swim at the beach :)

This trail is a great hike and the end result is worth it with breath taking views. There is a pile of rocks on the top that previous hikers have contributed to. So be sure to grab one just before you get to the top

First to Review

I loved this trail and will do it again before the end of the season. Pretty easy leading up to the climb which is not too bad. The view at the end is another breathtaking one. There are two entrances, one shortly after entering the park at campsite 67 (pegwood) and one at the end of the park through the playground.
