I hiked this trail in May and found that the section that runs parallel to the highway was still very icy since it goes through dense woods and the snow had been packed into ice from people walking over it. I ended up bushwacking towards the highway and walking back to my car along the road. The look out is of beautiful Alexander Bay and worth the effort required to climb the stairs to the top.
