Not a bad hike. I would say it’s in between easy and intermediate, skill level wise. Some parts are flat, soft ground. And others require navigating rocks and hilly terrain. The trail starts off in a tree covered area but opens up after about 15 minutes of walking, with few places of shade. A few vantage points provide nice photographic opportunities. Bring bug spray and water.

Great views, half in the hot sun and half in the rain and wind. Welcome to nfld!

This segment was part of our "lost day" on the ECT. All I can recollect was that the trail was pretty easy all the way up to Cape Spear. We got there before the elements really began to have their way with us. I only took 3 pictures the whole day due to relentless fog, rain and wind. Anticipating what was to come, we had broken camp and hit the trail early, so the lighthouse was still closed by the time we decided to move on to Petty Harbor. The visibility was too poor to make it worth the wait anyway. No regrets, many wondrous sights were to come. The gift shop was nice!
