Beauty spot. Being from NS Id call it a blend of Point Pleasant Park with Public Gardens rolled into 1. Could be great biking, in addition to the walking trails. As someone from outside of the area(or a tourist) There were not trails maps after you get into the system. This is always frustrating. Even after taking a photo at the entry, its of no use once your in. So many intersecting trails. If your in the area, you should definitely visit.
this is my favourite trail/route. likely because its right near my place. i did the full route only difference is I started at the east entrance near my home. very easy trail for all ages, except for the last bit is very rocky and slightly muddy with a small stream crossing this time of year. there is a great alternate route sticking to the gravel trail instead of going down the rocky hill. there is always an alternate route in this beautiful old growth urban forest.
If you are staying at the Delta it’s a 15 minute walk from the hotel and you are at the trail. At the start of the trail is a superstore so if you need to pick up any water food or last-minute supplies, you can grab them here. The trail is awesome. It’s well-kept cleared well, very little bugs and lots of squirrels. The trees are quite tall and form a canopy over the trails so that you are shaded from the sun for the most part. It was a hot sunny day and the hike was comfortable because of the shade from the trees. The trail is around 6 km but if you leave from the Delta walk the trail and back to the hotel it’s around 8.5 km. Highly recommend.
