Steeprock is one of the most distinct rivers in the area and true to its name, the rocks are far bigger than most streams in the Duck Mountains, Porcupine Hills and Pasquia Hills (Goodson). This trek is for the adventurous type who are up for backcountry camping, stream fishing and exploring nature in the raw form. The route involves exploring the Steeprock River, using the river bed as your path. There are angling opportunities for brook trout, chances to find fossils within the river bed and breath-taking views of Steeprock Canyon. Depending on the time of year, your trek may involve hiking through the forest at times and crossing side to side to get to your destination. Your trip can be as long as you desire by hiking out and back. Also, there are a few access points to exit the river in the lower reaches along old logging roads, but the condition and activities on these trails change frequently. Because of the ruggedness of this exploration, it is highly recommended to do your research and come prepared.
