The Rice Creek Lookout overlooks the Manitoba Lowlands, known as one of the best views in the province. From your parking location, travel approximately 14 km to the old tower trail junction. Note, on your way to this junction there are many trails leading off to the north into various cut blocks/plantations, but continue on the main road. At the junction (14U 345382 5845800) the trail branches to the north for an additional 2 km to the old ranger tower site. The tower is no longer in place, but the views of Red Deer Lake and Pasqua Hills remain spectacular. The climb brings you to a 400 m high lookout over the flat, low lying landscape below. At the outlook, you will find a picnic table and fire pit, which make for a good mid-day picnic. Because this is a logging area which can be active during certain times of the year, it is highly recommended to contact the local government office to inquire about road activity.
