Loop trail just off Highway 19. Very well maintained and wide path. The western section of the trail is also part of the Grey Owl trail (an additional 5.4 km each way) and has a bike traffic on it as well. Aspen and Pine trees make up the majority of the trees and there are lots of wildflowers in early July. Kinosao Lake is nice and has a large beaver dam on it and this trail joins up with the nearby Boreal boardwalk trail at the lake. The lake has a small floating dock which would be good for launching a canoe. Overall this trail is relatively easy, moderately trafficked and has some small hills. Once you reach the lake, you will see a lovely boardwalk section of the trail, which makes for some beautiful photos. Kinosao Lake is a gem. In the early morning, the water is so calm and the atmosphere is so serene. You can sometimes hear loons. There is always a canoe laying under a tree at the edge of the water by the dock with paddles and life jackets underneath it. here are also great views of the lake (and photo opportunities) right after crossing the boardwalk heading back on the trail, with a bench positioned along the water.

This was a fun bike ride, but it is a route with a lot of roots. The hills, especially on the north half, are more challenging than Grey Owl. The trail was dry enough for a good ride.

Love this trail. We typically hike it several times a year. It’s a nice distance and is an easier trail to navigate. If you love being near water there is a little lake at the end with a few benches, a dock and canoe with life jackets—“And into the Forrest I go, to loose my mind and find my Soul”

Beautiful trail and an easy loop. Can be buggy. Bring snacks and spend some time on the dock. When we visited there was a community canoe and paddles so you might be able to go for a rip.

One large tree is over about half way through the trail that you have to walk around, LOTS of bugs, but otherwise a nice hike!

Would’ve been a decent trail, super nice view when you get to the dock. but due to a severe storm many trees were covering paths as well as standing water which was hard to navigate, especially with my dog. And bugs were absolutely horrible

Lots of downed trees today and the low spots all full of water - only one spot over the ankles :). Otherwise nice grassy trail and great mix of sun and shade

Great late morning hike. Trail wasn’t over grown for the park being closed. Wide trail in most spots, great for big groups or bringing your dog. Also no worries of ticks due to being so wide. Lake is a great spot to rest if needed. Mosquito are extremely bad this year, bring tons of bug spray and don’t wear tight clothing. Besides that, great trail.

Pretty trail, but hard to enjoy bc the mosquitos are out of control! I go hiking around Manitoba quite frequently so I’m used to bugs, but wow I’ve never seen them this bad, and I was completely doused in bug spray. On the plus side, I didn’t see any ticks and I’m very happy that the park is open again (with social distancing measures in place).

Kinosao is a pretty trail that leads to the beautiful Kinosao Lake. This hike is a favourite of mine and always a must do when I’m in the park. I typically hike the Kinosao to the lake and take the Brule on the way back for a nice loop. The trail led through the forest for the first 2 km until it opened up to the lake. Most of the path is flat with only some gentle ups and downs. There is a canoe and life jackets and oars leaned up against a tree which is available to anyone to use. I always enjoy sitting on the dock and admiring the views of the calm lake and trees in a peaceful setting in the morning. From the lake, the trail continues along a beautiful boardwalk to connect with the Brule Trail, another 2 km back to the trailhead which follows through the forest. It’s a beautiful hike and it’s a tradition for me to do this trail every time I’m in Riding Mountain. Would highly recommend! Visit in the morning for a peaceful experience and the best photo opportunities with the morning light.

Nice easy hike. Saw a wolf and no bears. Was surprised to find a canoe, life coats and oars at the dock and had the opportunity to get out on the water.

Beautiful trail!! Hiked the end of July and the saskatoons were almost done but there are raspberries and strawberries growing along the trail... Grey Owl Cabin is a neat old log cabin at the end just waiting to be visited. Great experience recommend it to anyone!

Good loop trail for trail running, sections near the lake are steep with lots of roots, Grey owl portion of trail is flatter.
