Getting There

Fishing Lake is a moderately sized lake (87.5ha) in the Porcupine Mountain Provincial Forest. The lake is located along an old haul trail and is most commonly accessed by snowmobile in the winter months. It is not recommended to hike this trail in the summer because of length and damage created by ATVs, however is still possible. Because of possible logging operations, be sure to contact the nearest government office for updated information before using this road. This trail is not maintained, therefore fallen trees may complicate passage. Fishing Lake is home to very targetable walleye, northern pike, and lake whitefish populations.

Fishing Lake is an exceptional pike fishing destination. An ideal location where you will likely have the entire lake to yourself.

The trail head is located on PR #365 (North Steeprock Lake Road). Watch for signage "Hart Mountain" around 8 km up this road. There is a large parking area with boulders blocking the entrance to the main road. The trail winds through the bush to bypass this berm.
