A day hike past Rockies glaciers and their creations - Canada's third highest waterfall and hidden lakes. Yoho National Park is an incredibly stunning part of the Canadian Rockies. However, many of the area's best natural features are either just a few minutes stroll from a car park (and get the crowds to match) or are reached via strenuous hikes requiring car pick-ups at the end or longer ones requiring overnight camping. This trail hits the middle ground - a good half-day walk that loops back to where you started. Along the way you'll get amongst the mist of the Takakkaw Falls, pass by glacial lakes, and enjoy views of Emerald Glacier and the surrounding mountains and valleys.

I would recommend this trial to anyone looking for a bit of a challenge. It was hard and not busy at all, so we were a little worried about wild life but we made it to the top and it was just stunning! Wear proper shoes and be careful not to roll your ankle on the way down. Stunning views from the top!

Great trail. It was very diverse with rocks and switchbacks and then open scenery on the ice line trail. Not too hard and very beautiful. We sat in the red chairs at yoho lake which was a great breakpoint. Highly recommended with the falls, lake and good climb

The falls are gorgeous, and the hike up to Yoho lake is relatively easy and the lake is very pretty, but for me the star of the hike is the portion spent on the ice line trail, the views of the valley are stellar.

Beautiful views of the lake mountains and falls! Trail is pretty easy after the longer switch backs at the start. The trail splits at one point with option to go to the right towards little yoho and iceline trail or left towards yoho lake first. Would highly recommend going towards the lake and looping back around as you go through forested areas to the lake and then it opens up with spectacular views of the mountains and the falls on the way back down. If you do it the other way you’ll be walking away from the falls.

Le lac Yoho vaut le détour. Beaucoup de charme. Très belles couleurs émeraude profond.

This hike starts off via a road way past the hostel, then path becomes forested. Easily navigated especially over exposed rocks and roots. Short trip to the Hidden Lake is easily marked. Yoho lake is a hub of activity for many trails. If you can you can sit in the signature Red Chairs of the National Parks and take in the view. The Iceline Trail portion climbs to a rocky vantage point to see the falls across the valley. Decent takes you through rocks, avalanche path, and over small streams back to the parking lot

lower elevations so 1) hotter, 2) more trees at pass so 2a) no good view at pass. extension to Emerald Lake viewpoint was ok but with elevation drop great view if takakakw falls

The Highline part of the trail is very picturesque with mountain views, while the trail up to Yoho lake is among the trees. Overall this is a beautiful and not a difficult trail. There were small spots of snow on Highline trail last Sunday, but not on the path.

Trail is nice condition, just feels like forever coming back out as there are no views make it feel longer. Make one way the iceline to add to the views

Hiked with twin 9-year olds. Saw a marmot and golden eye chicks on Yoho Lake. Still snow higher on the trail on July 5. The views across the valley to Takkakkaw Falls are stunning.

Fantastic hike! Creeks, waterfalls, lakes, views, forest and above the treeline. It was a bit muddy but not too bad. Some fallen trees you need to go over or under, too. Exposed in some parts of the hike.

Beautiful views of Takakkaw Falls when completing the upper potion of Highline Trail. Several downed trees and moderate snow during our hike in late June. Trail was easy to follow because of previous hikers. Camping at Yoho Lake was beautiful.

Went on a rainy day with snow at upper elevation. Only saw a couple of other people during the hike. Trail was a little difficult to follow at the top elevation due to snow, but overall an amazing hike. We loved it.

Short moderately steep switchbacks then lovely walk to a beautiful Yoho Lake. Swam in the lake and just hung with the ducks and other hikers.

Nice half day hike! If you have some more time it definitely worth it to follow the Iceline Trail until you reach the first glaciers. Highline trail is very nice through wildflowers (22.07.2018) and well maintained! We had an early lunch at Yoho Lake on our way back - which was nice because afterwards it goes just downhill - don’t forget Bug Spray!!!! The trail in the forest could be slippery if it’s wet, watch for your steps!

Well marked trail. Some spots have water running through the trail so bring proper shoes. Up hill work out to start but well worth the climb getting to the lake and plenty of wild flowers (July) to keep the spirits high. At the fork, go to the lake first (clockwise), great views of Wapta mountain. We shared lunch here with a family of ducks. The rewards aren’t over yet, make sure to treat yourself to the last part of the loop with a quick uphill push to start then levelling out to some spectacular views of the valley and the Icleine everywhere you look including some amazing views of the Takakkaw Falls with the Daly glacier looming above it. Great half day hike with many visual rewards. We will be going back for more!

Nice views, good deal of work. Greatest reward is the Yoho lake waiting for you.

Awesome hike, start the loop from the left as indicated. The view at the top after the lake is simply magnificent. It took me 3 hours from the parking lot near the falls including my trip to the falls.
