Hiking "The Chief" is something that every hiker should have on their bucket list. And at only 5.6 km, hiking Peak 1 and 2 together definitely gives you the most views in the shortest distance. But despite being relatively short, this is not an easy hike as it requires large steps up the whole way (similar to the Grind but with even higher steps). It is also very technical with a series of chains and ladders. You will require a good level of fitness and agility to get through one difficult chained section for Peak 2. When you reach the summits, the views are incredible. There is really nothing like it when comparing shorter local hikes.

Wow!!! A great but manageable challenge. A bit slick when wet but it is late nov. Strongly recommend hikers or trail shoes with good grip. And agree with other reviewer on the gloves for cold, wet ladders & rope.

Wanted to go to second peak, but was a bit sketchy with the new snow melting and breaking/sliding pretty easily. Decided just to do first peak for some views

Excellent hike, bring hiking shoes at the least as the stairs and rocks are a bit slippery. Also bring gloves if you plan to do peak 1/2 so your hands don’t freeze touching the chains.

Very nice trail to do, even late in the season. No snow yet and barely any mud. Fun technical sections, and beautiful views

We went on a misty, cloudy day. Although, we were not able to get the views of a beautiful clear day, we still were in awe of the beauty of this trail. Spectacular rocks, big cedars, water falls, and gorgeous fall colors, with the odd mushroom siting. This is not an easy hike, but the stairs, ladders and chains made it feel like a "big kids' playground". Will be coming back here again soon. Again and again.

Cloudy and light rain but it cleared up at the top. Slippery so it was a bit dangerous but not too busy on the trails.

very good trails. suggesting also to start in pick 3 and go to 2nd and 1st. you may want to be in a good Shape as the trails are hard. Very challenging but totally worth the trip

Trail and views were great. There’s some maintenance being done on the gondola which meant it was quite loud for the first hour (helicopters above) but it stopped by about 10:30.
