If you would like to hike high in the mountains but are in the mood for something easier, you will be happy with this loop. From the century old signs, the huge Hollyburn cabin community, the log cabin ranger station, and the Hollyburn Lodge, this trail is rich in heritage and history. The cabins are privately owned but many trails pass right in front of them so you will see their charm up close. FYI, the Hollyburn ski lodge is only open during the winter ski season. As for the trails themselves, they range from wide gravel X-country ski routes to muddy, winding green trails. It is quite easy to get off trail along unmarked Sinclair Way. You will pass several smaller lakes before you reach your destination of West Lake which is a clean, peaceful larger lake well suited to swimming in the summer.
