There is no parking lot associated with this hike. The Great Divide Lodge where many have parked in the past is CLOSED to the public because of Covid so there is NO PARKING. Trails is open and you can cross the property to access them

We tried to go to this trail today (October 21) and the parking lot was closed. Not sure if it’s for the season or not?

This trail is so underated !!!! We completed it today while it was snowing and it was just MAGICAL. We were the only ones on the trail, there was not a sound. The lake was beautiful under the snow! On the way back we saw a coyote. Easy and fast trail but so so so worth it if you are passing by !!!

Definitely worth continuing past the lake to at least the first waterfall, which is another 15 min or so. Those who feel like a longer hike, should continue on, see Mount Niles and Niles Meadows trail description. The trail first crosses the Niles Meadows, which are quite pretty in themselves and offer some additional views of the surrounding peaks. After a short section through the forest with lots of fallen trees, the trail starts following a beautiful creek. The trail keeps crossing the creek multiple times and there are small meadows all along the way and small rapids. After about 3 km (and 250 m elevation gain) from the first waterfall, you reach another, quite high waterfall, right where the trail takes a sharp turn to head north at 2,150 m elevation (see Mount Niles trail map). This was a perfect lunch spot for us, and a nice end to a fairly easy, 6.5 hr hike for a total of about 14 km and 600 m elevation gain.

Favourite hike so far. Gorgeous forest, enough of an incline to make it interesting and challenging and a stunning lake. We only saw a few people and largely had the lake to ourselves.

Great trail through the trees until the meadow and then the lake. We ended up hiking along the lake to catch a couple different viewpoints and ended up doing around 8km. We arrived at the trail at 9am and were one of two cars, as we left at 11am the parking lot was full.

Nice hike to a beautiful lake! It starts off with a gradual incline then flattens out. There is stream that flows right into the lake! The trail is well maintained and easy to follow! Overall a great hike took about 41min to get up.

Don't end your hike at the lake! Please, promise me you'll keep hiking up the trail. Go look up Niles Meadows/Mount Niles, it's where the trail leads and it's so, so much better than turning around at the lake. (That said, this is a nice easy hike if you're looking for something to do with children or people who can't walk very far.)

We loved this trail, an easy well cleared hike. Our 8 and 5 year old daughters enjoyed it as well, it was easy for them to handle and they skipped their way down the trail. No bears that we saw, but had our bear spray and bells just in case.

Great hike and beautiful lake! Well maintained trail and not too busy. The first half hour to the fork in the trail had the most climbing the second half to the lake has some flat sections and shorter inclines.
