Frozen slush today. Difficult to run. Look forward to trying again once the snow/ice melts.

This is a good 10K power walk trail which I do regularly. Would rate it easy rather than moderate. As others have noted, avoid the horse poop. I’ve always found the horse riders polite. Remember it’s their trail and keep dogs calm and under control when the horses pass.

Nice area but lots of horse poop. Horses have right of way and riders can be unpleasant towards pedestrians. Will not be returning.

Easy walk on well groomed path.

Nice 11km trails to run, if you don't mind the horse manure, be careful where you step heads up. Couple of inclines but otherwise flat trails through the trees.. nice for walks with family.

The trail is 11km. I walked with my stroller my two year old and my 2 month old. there were some areas of slightly deeper gravel that was a bit harder to push through but completely doable. My two year old walked about half of the trail and sat in the stroller the rest. It was a beautiful trail. about 75% was in shade.

Definetly not 25km, the trail map shows the Shaggy Mane trail. From a technical standpoint this is an easy trail, with some good inclines as you climb up from deer run to the cross country horse jumping area, and again after you drop down on the west side and have crossed over the north parking lot, but nothing major. Trail is a mix of packed gravel and loose gravel, which is excellent for distance training. I've parked at the north lot, run down little river loop to ravine trail, and hopped on to shaggy mane to do the loop and back up ravine at the end to the lot for a 16km or so run. Lots of options in the park for short to half marathon distance runs

Not 25km, 10-12km round trip if you take the longer route. Horses and other wildlife can be seen on a good day. Avoid horse trails unless you don't mind the smell of manure lol

Walked the perimeter route (Shaggy Mane Trail) on a drizzly rainy day and enjoyed the walk and even ran into 3 deer as I came around a turn. A couple things to consider before you go;

Shaggy Mane = horse trail = walking in horse poop quite a bit.
This is not a Moderate hike - it's super super easy.
This is not a 25Km hike - it's more like 10.5Km
If you take the longest possible way like I did - it's only a combined elevation of 104M - again easy.

If you are looking to clear your head and enjoy a mellow walk outdoors, this is it! If you are looking at challenging yourself as you prepare for longer more strenuous hikes, this ain't it.

Disclaimer - I did not take any of the internal off shoot hikes. There may be more elevation gain and challenge on those.

went on the shaggy mane trail and as someone just getting in to walking on trails it was really nice and super fun to do with a dog. There's a nice tap near a building to refresh at ! would definitely do it again!

Excellent trails with very good signage. Just watch out on the perimeter trails for horses.

There are several Geocaches in this park.
