Ross Lake from Lake O'Hara Road is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September.
We were the only ones on the trail yesterday. Gorgeous forest, picturesque and peaceful Ross Lake. We hiked about 15 minutes past the lake to a delightful tumbling creek with dry rocks in the middle that made a lovely lunch spot. We saw fresh bear droppings but no bear!
Barely saw anyone on the trail today and it was gorgeous out! Easy hike in and the lake is nice at the end, wish there was a bit more of a beach to swim at.
Beautiful trail. Ross lake is a great spot with some beautiful scenery as well. Perfect hike for a nice day.
Getting to the lake was pretty special as it was isolated, quiet, and beautiful. Didn’t come across anyone else during the hike. The signage is poor. It wasn’t clear that you take the closed road from the O’Hara parking area. Once you near the trail, there’s a sign with an arrow pointing in a misleading direction. Keep walking a little further until you get to a different sign with the more obvious trail leading into the woods. Trail conditions were good and the hike fairly easy.
Trailhead is almost 2 KM up O'Hara Lake Road, and is closed to vehicles. Don't forget to add the extra mileage onto your hike! Heavily forested hike. Didn't see another soul which was nice compared to the other park hikes. Could hear highway traffic noise along the trail, but the lake was nice and quiet.
